If you're 11 or 12

Pick a number that:

  1. You'd feel okay asking your customer to pay if they were sitting right next to you, looking at you.
  2. Is between $1 and $15. Not free. Not $50.
  3. Ends in 7, 9, or 0. Try $5, $7, $9, $10, or $15.

If your product is something the customer would use over and over (every week or every day), make it a monthly subscription at the same range ($3, $5, $7, or $9 per month).

If it's a one-time download (a template, a Chrome extension, a small tool), make it one-time ($5, $7, $9, $15).

Don't agonize. Pick a number. Write it down. Move on. You can change it later. The lesson is in setting one at all.
