The exercise (do this before Lesson 4)

Take your offer sentence from Lesson 2.

Write three exclusions. Each one is:

  • A real feature category that a real customer might actually ask for.
  • A written commitment, one sentence: "This product does NOT _____."
  • Different from the other two. Don't write three exclusions about social features.

Save them under your offer sentence in your offer_card.md draft.

Then test each one. For each exclusion, imagine your best friend says in week five: "you should add this." Picture saying no. Out loud. Does it feel real? If you'd cave under pressure, the exclusion isn't real. Replace it with one you'd actually defend.

If you find this hard, that's the lesson. Almost every builder finds it hard to write three exclusions for their own product. The hardness IS the lesson. Push through.
