If you're 11 or 12

The four fakes, simpler:

  1. No real person. "An app for kids" is fake. "An app for my sister Lyla, age 9, who plays Roblox" is real.
  2. Person doesn't care. If they wouldn't already be trying to fix it on their own, they won't pay you to fix it.
  3. Too hard to build. If your idea needs a server farm or a license from the government, pick a smaller version of the same idea.
  4. Everyone else built it. If a famous app does what you described, you need a really specific reason yours is different for your specific person.

Take the candidate you came out of Lesson 2 with. Run it through those four checks. If it passes, great. If it fails, that's also great. You just saved yourself two months of building the wrong thing.

A failed candidate at the start of Module 1 is a win. A failed candidate at the end of Module 6 is a disaster.
